We're Crushing On Yves Saint Laurent's Vintage Love Cards

Dana Covit

Over the course of thirty years, from 1970 to 2000, designer Yves Saint Laurent created and sent to friends and family a series of colourful, whimsically graphic cards to ring in each New Year. Though not actually Valentine's Day cards, their overarching theme is, without a doubt, love. Each card's unique style reflects the designer's evolving aesthetic, while recurring elements on the cards are things cherished by the designer: his bulldog Moujik, the sun and palm trees of his native Algeria, for example.

A collection of the hand-crafted designer collages are being compiled in a new French tome, called Love by Saint Laurent, with an American release to follow. Get in the mood for love by scrolling below, then head to Vogue to see more!
