This Vitamin Combination Could Give Your Gut the Immediate Boost It Needs
Gut health is having quite a moment this year, and with new research regularly affirming how integral it can be to so many elements of our health, I don’t think it’s a trend that will be going anywhere, anytime soon. When it comes to giving your gut a little boost, there is a plethora of vitamins on the market these days,—seriously, one trip down the aisle at your local chemist has the potential to confuse you straight back out of the store—there are a few that come doctor recommended, one of these being probiotics.
But now, according to an article by Well + Good a new study from The Journal of American Osteopathic Association has found that by taking Vitamin D and Magnesium together, it can help you absorb Vitamin D better, which not only helps with your energy levels, and strong bones, but also has been linked to positive gut benefits.
According to the studies co-author, Mohammed Razzaque, the two vitamins are practically made for each other, “People are taking vitamin D supplements but don’t realise how it gets metabolised,” Razzaque also adds that “by consuming an optimal amount of magnesium, one may be able to lower the risks of vitamin D deficiency, and reduce the dependency on vitamin D supplements.” Luckily for us, if you’d rather get your nutrients through food, these vitamins are easily found in many staple foods like egg, fish, dairy and leafy greens, making them an easy gut-focused meal to whip up on a week night.
