When a smile to a stranger is met with a scowl or look of indifference, it’s easy to wonder, What’s their problem? Why you gotta be so mean? If you’ve ever thought this while walking down the streets of New York City, you aren’t alone. Travel + Leisure recently named the 15 unfriendliest cities in America, and New York is at the top of the list. The ranking, which was compiled by a Travel + Leisure reader survey, highlights the places where locals don’t really connect with tourists. What other cities made the cut?
