Why Music Could be the Secret to Finding True Love

Have you been swiping your way through Tinder in the hope to find “the one”, a hot date, or even just a new friend, but to no avail? We feel you. And we know the desire to keep swiping night-after-night, week-after-week can fade—fast. But, hang in there, because the original dating app’s new feature has just changed everything.

From today, Tinder users can now add music to their profile thanks to music streaming platform, Spotify. The tech giants have joined forces to not only give fellow singles even more reason to swipe right (beyond the enhanced profile pictures and cringe-worthy bios), but to find potential matches through a mutual love for music.

Not only can you add an anthem to your profile (read: the one song that represents you), your favourite artists and music preferences, but cupid’s tech-savvy partner in crime will suggest matches based on your taste in tunes in addition to your common interests, swiping preferences, and mutual friends—genius.

“With Spotify, we're fully integrating music into the swiping experience in a brand new way—at a massive, global scale. With or without a Spotify account, you can choose to add an Anthem to your profile and start swiping to see who shares your favourite songs and artists. With the addition of music powered by Spotify, we're introducing an even more personalised experience on the platform,” said Sean Rad, CEO at Tinder.

Music lovers looking for love, rejoice!
