The Old Clare Hotel will now be dubbed the new Old Clare Hotel because the once traditional inner-city pub has undergone one very impressive renovation. Two heritage listed buildings have joined forces to create a must-visit dine and stay establishment. After months of anticipation, the boutique hotel is now open for service.

With the desire to retain the building’s history and heritage, the charming design of the new hotel is retro with a modern twist. The existing industrial features – high ceilings, exposed brick walls, polished concrete and heritage timber panelling – have been complimented with contemporary pendant lighting, vintage furniture and cushions inspired by Australian flora and fauna. .

Located in Sydney’s gritty, inner-city location of Chippendale, the notable conversion was designed by Tonkin Zulaikha Greer Architects, who have created 62 rooms, three new restaurants, a rooftop pool, a bar with an exceptional panoramic view (worth the visit itself!), a private gym and a day spa expected to launch early next year. And to top it off, Maison Balzac created a bespoke scent for the hotel inspired by memories of the past.

We know where we’re headed this weekend!
