The Block’s Winning Apartment Is an Interior Lover's Dream
If you were one of the 2.104 million people that watched The Block finale last night, you'll probably agree that it was an exhilarating and feel-good two hours of television. The reality home renovation show has been responsible for transforming rundown buildings into cutting-edge properties for over 13 years and this year was no different. The contestants renovated a 1920s heritage art deco building (and former soap factory) in Port Melbourne into five luxury apartments.
Last night saw the youngest contestants, Will Bethune and Karlie Cicero, win the popular real estate competition thanks to their stunning renovated ground floor garden apartment which sold for $2.6 million and an incredible $715,000 over its reserve price of $1,885,000. The Queensland-based couple and high school sweethearts walked away with $815,000 in prize money—an impressive pay cheque for three months work.
The contemporary three-bedroom apartment boasts expansive high ceilings, an gallery-worthy art collection, and an oasis-like courtyard—if we had a spare $2.6 million, we’d buy it too. Scroll down to tour the award-winning space.
