Here Are the Details for Sunday's Sydney Women's March
Women are continuously fighting for equality but here in Australia, the national epidemic of violence against woman has become too hard to ignore and will be the focus of the Sydney Women’s March this year.
On January 20 2019, the Sydney Women’s March will not only highlight equality, it will also address femicide and violence against women. In 2018 we lost 65 women to murder or manslaughter in Australia and domestic violence has become a more paralysing issue than ever before.
Last year, 10,000 women flooded the streets of Sydney in the city’s first march and not long afterwards, 1,500 women formed a human chain for the second anniversary even #Unbroken.
The Women’s March Sydney will be demanding immediate action from the Australian government and will coincide with marches happening in London, Stockholm, Rome, Barcelona and Canada.
You can get updates on the event by signing up for the Women’s March Sydney newsletter on its website or join the Women’s March Sydney Facebook Page.
We need your help to share the date, and encourage others to march and donate. Supporters will gather in Hyde Park at 11:30am for speeches before marching in solidarity with ambassadors including Alison Rice, Zoe Marshall, and Elle Ferguson, to Belmore Park for the Women's March Fair, which will feature performers, not-for-profit organisation stalls and food trucks.
