The next best thing to an Italian summer has arrived in Sydney—Sydney Opera House’s Summer Playground event. This year the annual pop up is inspired by the sights, sounds, and flavours of the Italian Riviera—and it is super-relaxed. The summer hotspot is aptly titled ‘Salsedine’, an Italian saying for “that salty cool post-beach feeling” on your skin.

Indulge your taste buds with pizzas and gelato while sipping an Italian aperitif on the forecourt of the iconic Sydney Opera House. With views overlooking the glistening harbour and live music to boot, does summer get much better? We’re pretty sure it doesn’t.

The Summer Playground is open from 9am until late, seven days a week until the end of January.

If you can’t make it to the Summer Playground, create your very own Italian feast at home.
