10 Smart Travel Habits You Need to Develop
The jet-setter lifestyle is all-around fabulous. But when you’re travelling, things like an airline losing your luggage or someone stealing your wallet are highly possible. We’ve rounded up a collection of travel habits that all savvy jet-setters should develop in order to prevent any setbacks from spoiling a great trip. Read on to ensure you’re always prepared, no matter what.
Always have a photocopy of your passport in your wallet or a digital copy on your cell phone or computer. You never know if your wallet will be stolen, so make sure to email yourself a scan of your passport so that you can access your identification from anywhere. Having a copy of your passport on your person, or at your fingertips, at all times is the ultimate jet-setter must.
Travel is an exercise in patience. This is the ultimate time to go with the flow. If you’re one to sweat the small stuff, practice some calm breathing exercises and meditation before you go, or bring along some soothing lavender oil (under three ounces, of course) to calm you down during your trip. It’s a good idea to always check your flight schedule before you arrive at the airport so as to avoid unnecessary waiting.
Keep a thin notebook of packing lists in your luggage. Have one for a business overnighter, one for a weekend trip, one for a ski trip, one for a beach holiday, etc. After you return from each type of trip, update your list. Either cross off items you didn’t need or add ones you wish you'd had. Pretty soon you’ll have perfected the art of packing for everything imaginable.
