Influencer Carmen Hamilton Swears by This In-Flight Drink for Flawless Skin
When it comes to travelling, we like to think we’ve got it down to a fine art at MyDomaine Australia. Often penning the latest hacks, and professional advice from flight attendants, we’ve mastered everything from getting the most out of our annual leave this year, to finding the most affordable suitcase for our travels. But, if there’s one profession that definitely knows a thing or two about long-haul flights, it’s influencers.
Known for traipsing the globe for Fashion Week and exclusive launches, what’s less thought about is the impact it can have on their skin and overall health. And influencer, Carmen Hamilton knows this reality all too well. Travelling mostly for work, Hamilton has curated the perfect in-flight beauty routine to combat that “red-eyed and groggy” look that can often accompany us out of the plane and into our holiday. “Through many years of trial and error, I’ve found the best in flight beauty routine to minimise the damage at 30,000 ft, and keep me feeling/looking human at the other end.” says Hamilton. Read on for her words of wisdom.
#1: STAY HYDRATED
Apart from keeping up your water intake, Hamilton also suggests concocting a brew of hot water, lemon and honey. Not only does it serve as a source of comfort, but it also helps keep your digestive system active. Hamilton also suggests sticking to the vegetarian option on the plane, or if possible, packing your own snacks. “Plane food is packed with salt and sugar to make it more palatable, which wreaks absolute havoc on already Sahara Desert-esque skin.”
#2: MOISTURISE REGULARLY
It’s no surprise that aeroplane air-conditioning is shows no mercy when it comes to drying out your skin. So, to compensate, Hamilton suggests moisturising from head to toe (lip balm included) every two hours. “On my face, I use Dermalogica’s Calm Water Gel… which I follow with the Barrier Defense Booster to supercharge my moisturiser and block out the damaging effects of airborne germs and air conditioning.
To minimise puffy ankles—because let’s be honest, we definitely want to spend a night out with our most fabulous pair of heels—Hamilton suggests keeping your feet elevated as much as possible.
