3 Signs You're Going to Be Successful in 2017
As 2016 comes to a close, we begin to think about how we want to take on the new year. We outline plans for how to improve our lives by way of New Year's Resolutions and determine goals we'd like to see through in 2017. Oftentimes our ambitions revolve around success, so what are ways to set yourself up for a favourable outcome?
Extraordinarily successful people share specific personality traits and habits. These common attributes, listed by Business Insider, are what make these individuals so successful. Keep reading to see if you exhibit these traits. You can see them as signs that success is coming your way in 2017. If these habits are far from what you practice today, modify your thinking and actions to get back on the road to success before the new year.
You're constantly seeking new experiences.
You can't spark change and shake up the world without the drive to try something new. The most successful people are never satisfied with the current state of things. They're always seeking ways to improve their environment and themselves, bettering the way things work, inciting efficiency, and never settling. Go out and seek new experiences, challenging yourself and opening your mind. Dr. Robert Cloninger wrote in The New York Times that "Novelty seeking is one of the traits that keeps you healthy and happy and fosters personality growth as you age ... If you combine adventurousness and curiosity with persistence and a sense that it's not all about you, then you get the creativity that benefits society as a whole."
You don't overthink a work-life balance.
For successful individuals, there's no such thing as work-life balance. You're constantly working to better your own brand and finding ways your work can improve your life and your life can improve your work. While this isn't to say it's not healthy to completely break away from working once in a while, or carve out certain times that are purely devoted to your family, not stressing out about maintaining specific boundaries can actually be beneficial. If you find a way to incorporate the things you love—your interests hobbies, and passions—into your work, you'll be better off and more likely to find success in both worlds.
You realise success is fleeting but dignity and respect last forever.
Never let success be the end goal. It's something that comes along with other accomplishments—the feeling of achieving something you've worked hard to earn. Chasing after success for the sake of success or letting others' versions of success define yours can be extremely detrimental. Having truer tenants like dignity and respect form your foundation—instead of other measures like the numbers on your paycheck or your number of social media followers—will give you more substantial and sustainable satisfaction.
