This Engagement Ring Trend Takes Commitment to a New Extreme

If you've ever felt stressed about losing your engagement ring, the latest diamond trend might be a smart consideration. At least, that's the argument Elle makes to explain why newly engaged couples are opting for finger piercings over traditional rings.

Microdermal piercing involves placing a dermal anchor underneath the skin so that a foreign object can be fixed to the surface. The result? A single diamond appears to "float" in the middle of your ring finger, Elle reports.

You might need a high pain tolerance to go ahead with the procedure, though. Reports suggest it's far more painful than other types of piercings and can take up to 12 weeks to heal. Oh, and you'll want to be sure about your decision—stone removal will need to be done by a professional and will leave a scar.
