3 Elevated Styling Lessons We Learned From This Australian TV Host's LA Home
For budding Australian television presenter, Renee Bargh, the American dream of becoming a key voice in the entertainment industry became a reality when she packed her bags in 2010 bound for the US. Her mission? To tap into the competitive Hollywood scene. And it was her local-girl charm and undeniable talent that lead her to nab a spot as a reporter for Extra TV. But as evident in her LA pad, Australia's laid-back styling prowess is never far from mind.
In Gritty Pretty's latest e-issue, the TV personality gave a tour inside her loft-style space, located in the renowned Venice Canal Historic District of LA. The presenter also explaining to the magazine that the brief for the space was for it to be as calming as possible, "My work is quite hectic so I wanted to make sure my home was a safe, zen-like space where I could unwind and meditate."
Step inside Gritty Pretty's shoot with the Australian ex-pat and see the three styling lessons we learned from her bohemian oasis below.
IN THE LIVING ROOM
In her living room, we're noting Bargh's strategic use of neutral colours that are brought to life with coastal hues through her artwork and outdoor leather chairs. We especially love how Bargh has styled her picture frames with off-centre from each other in white frames.
Lesson: Wall hangings, like this marble-designed surfboard, is a unique way to add art to your space. (Confession: This is going on our wishlist this Christmas, the ultimate coastal-styling focal piece if you ask us.)
IN THE BEDROOM
Stepping into Bargh's bedroom ensures that the laid-back vibe has transcended from the living area, with lush greenery, dark-wooden tones, and soft linen filling the space.
Lesson: Hats as a wall feature is a strategic way to beautifully store these accessories. We also love that our prediction of fringed wall hangings being a key trend this spring has also come to life hovering over Bargh's bed.
Fine details are peppered throughout Bargh's home, with small vases and brass detailing visiting what usually becomes forgotten space in many abodes.
Lesson: Crystals combined with dried coral perfectly nod to the relaxed feeling that comes with ocean-side living. Also, can you ever have too many crystals? We think not.
