Reese Witherspoon Makes a Fierce Case for Ambitious Women

Julia Millay Walsh

In her Monday–night speech at Glamour's Women of the Year Awards, honoree Reese Witherspoon brought the house down with inspiring words and a call for action among her peers. Slamming sexism in "every field, every industry," and fiercely arguing that women are "underrepresented and underpaid in leadership positions," Witherspoon tackled a much-buzzed-about topic as of late. Instead of a state of address, she asked, "What is it in your life that you think you cannot accomplish? Or what is it that people have said that you cannot do? Wouldn't it feel really good to prove them all wrong? Because I believe ambition is not a dirty word." Watch the video above and prepare to be inspired.
