Nightstands may have been around forever, but people are now putting careful consideration into their bedside tables—and the styling around them. Nightstands as a search term saw a 721% increase in the last year. How does yours stack up?
Another leading trend coming up in 2017 is marble wallpaper—the keyword saw a 303% increase. The marble train has been picking up speed for a few years now, but this is a new clever way to introduce the chic texture without the price tag. Plus, it makes for a great Instagram backdrop.
You've probably heard of hygge (pronounced hoo-gah) by now—the Danish term is used to describe the feeling of homeliness and cosiness. Since Scandinavian design is making a huge splash on the design scene, it's not surprising that their trends are making their way stateside too. The word saw a 285% increase on Pinterest search in the last year.
Making their way to an interior near you, climbing plants magically transform any room with their lush greenery and flourishing vines. And the best part? "Certain types, like the pothos plant, are almost impossible to kill," says our Pinterest expert. The term saw a 200% increase on Pinterest.
Copper has also seen its fair share of popularity growth this year, with a 90% increase in search on Pinterest. One piece of advice: Too much of a good thing is real. Mix up your metals around the house to give the look a timeless appeal.
"Homes are breaking away from the Swedish-inspired white interiors and crossing over to the dark side with navy and deep blue tones," says our Pinterest expert, with the term seeing a 80% increase in the last year. "A velvet sectional or high-gloss statement wall gives any space modern, moody vibes."
Blame it on small space décor: Transparent acrylic furniture saw a 50% increase in search. These clever furniture pieces seamlessly blend into any décor without weighing it down.
It seems that Pinterest users are not yet tired of the farmhouse style, especially in the kitchen. Farmhouse sinks and Shaker cabinets are increasingly being used in homes everywhere—even those in metropolitan hubs. If you can't go to the farm, bring the farm to you.
