11 Must-Visit Spots for Your Next Trip to Paris
Editor’s Note: No matter how many guidebooks you read before you travel, you’re bound to walk away with your own intel into a city or town’s heartbeat—and that’s the great thing about it. When we heard that one of our favourite L.A. insiders, MOCA's Gabé Hirschowitz, had banked some major time in Paris, we couldn’t help but ask her to share her favourite spots around town. Read her guide below to get your next trip started off on the right foot.
Whenever I’m in Paris, I always return to many of my favourite places. Here are a few of my treasured dining and shopping spots in the City of Light.
My trips to Paris are never complete without dining at my favourite Moroccan restaurant, Le 404. Dimly lit with hanging lanterns and lots of burning candles, the atmosphere is always enjoyable and elegant. The food is so delicious—the seven-vegetable couscous and lamb tagine are my favourite dishes.
I always discover the greatest beauty products at French pharmacies, so definitely pop into one while you’re there and browse the aisles—a translator might help if you don't speak French. Embryolisse lait-crème concentré is one of my favourite finds from there; it keeps my skin feeling silky-smooth and fresh.
In the summer of 2013, following a trip to Morocco, I stopped in Paris for a few days. While strolling through the Luxembourg Gardens one afternoon, I discovered a Marc Chagall exhibit at the Musée du Luxembourg. Chagall has been one my favourite artists of the 20th century, so you can imagine my excitement over this unexpected find. Titled Chagall, Between War and Peace, the exhibit opened with his paintings from around the outbreak of World War I and explored the artist’s eventful life until his death in 1985, bringing together about 100 important works from museums and private collections from around the world.
I spent several hours in the Musée du Luxembourg that afternoon, an experience that I will forever cherish. I’m sure another inspiring exhibit awaits you if you stop by the museum on your next trip.
