Inside Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's Fashion-Forward Townhouse

Earlier this month, we were wowed by images of Ashley Olsen’s stunning Greenwich Village condo, but it seems that recent purchase hasn’t quenched the stylish twin’s foray in the real-estate game. Vogue reports the duo has been busy putting the finishing touches on a three-story New York City townhouse. No, it’s not another stunning property to add to their enviable personal portfolio—the property will be the first Manhattan flagship store of their fashion label The Row. Take a peek inside their latest project.
The sisters reveal they fell in love with the Upper East Side property a few years ago, but it wasn’t immediately available. Rather than settle for another address, they opened The Row in Los Angeles and waited until their dream space was ready.
“Having lived in New York now for 12 years, we wanted the store to very much feel like a home—that’s sort of the dream of here: a brownstone in New York,” Ashley Olsen told Vogue. “There’s a fantasy to that, and I think bringing that fantasy to reality in a way that everyone can enjoy is a really nice thing.”
“We have a lot of people who want to display their art or collaborations that can utilise these little suites. Everything is for sale, so it will be forever changing,” Mary-Kate Olsen says. “It’s like your house—you tweak it, you add things, you take away things.”
The Olsens worked with French interior designer Jacques Grange, whose last client was Monsieur Saint Laurent. Together, they sourced signature items including a Carlo Bugatti chair, Frank Lloyd Wright mirror, and Jean Royère standing lamp.
Smooth, buttery floors and warm cream walls reflect light to create a stunning, illuminated space. The sisters say they approached each room like their home, rather than a store.
“It was really important for us that when you walk into the store it wasn’t about clothes being shoved in your face. It was about the experience of walking in, taking in the space,” Ashley Olsen says. “Less is more, I believe.”
