Inside Barack and Michelle Obama's Elegant New Home

Sophie Miura

With a matter of months left in the White House, President Barack Obama and wife Michelle Obama have been searching for a new home in Washington, D.C., where the family will live while daughter Sasha finishes high school. The White House is a hard act to follow, but according to The New York Times, the Obamas have secured an elegant $6 million USD rental property in Kalorama, an elite neighbourhood just two miles from their current residence.

The stunning nine-bedroom home has plenty of space for the family of four plus their two dogs, Bo and Sunny. It boasts eight and a half bathrooms, an exercise room, a manicured garden, a butler’s pantry, and an au pair suite, which could be home to Michelle Obama’s mother, who lives with the family in the White House. The Obamas join a list of prestigious former Kalorama residents, including Franklin D. Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson.
