A First Look at Meghan Markle's Engagement Ring

After weeks of speculation, it's finally confirmed: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are engaged! Kensington Palace released an official statement on the morning of November 27, sharing the royal family's support and stating that the wedding will take place in spring 2018.

After the official announcement, the couple made their first appearance outside Kensington Palace—offering the first glimpse at Markle's new royal engagement ring. Close-up photographs reveal a large center diamond flanked by two smaller stones on a classic yellow-gold band.

It's believed Harry designed the ring himself. Elle reports the center diamond is from Botswana and the two accompanying stones are from Princess Diana's private collection. According to Us Weekly, they came from his mother's brooch.

The couple looked jubilant as they posed for pictures and were happy to answer a few questions from the press—although they wouldn't share the intimate details of their proposal. E-News says Markle told reporters the proposal was "very" romantic. Harry added he know Markle was the one "the very first time we met." We can't wait to hear more.
