3 Reasons Kids Benefit From Having a Working Mum
When any mum goes back to work for the first time after having a baby, there’s always an element of worry about her child’s future, but according to a Harvard Business School study, there’s no need to stress: Thanks to working mums, the next generation of kids will be more successful in their careers, earn more money, and close the gender gap once and for all. The research included all types of working mums too, from the full-time professional to the freelancer. So it’s time to see less mother’s guilt and more support for women in the workforce. Read on to find out why.
Their Daughters Will Be the Next Lady Bosses
Daughters of working mothers will grow up to be more successful in the workplace than their peers. They’re also more likely to be leaders and earn 23% more money than other women.
Their Sons Will Diminish Gender Inequality
Men raised by working mothers are more likely to contribute to household chores. They are also more likely to be loving fathers and spend more time caring for the family, about seven and a half hours more on childcare per week, to be exact. Now who doesn’t like the sound of that?
Balance Will Be Restored to the Family Home
Male adults of working mums usually have wives who work too. Splitting the household duties equally means women have more time to explore their own careers. Two wage–earning families will have a positive influence on their own children and encourage gender equality for future generations.
