While it might sound unusual, the health benefits of sauerkraut far outweigh the quirk factor. It's jam-packed with probiotics, which are living bacteria that aid digestion and boost gut health. Why is it important to have a healthy gut? Well new research from neurobiologists at Oxford University have linked gut bacteria to anxiety and depression. In short, if your gut is healthy, so is your brain, not to mention the boost of vitamins, minerals, and fibre you get from the traditional sour cabbage dish.
