Feel Burnout Coming on? This Is How Richard Branson Combats Overwork
It's no secret that successful folk stick to strict daily schedules in order to achieve their larger-than-life goals. But more surprisingly, we find that it doesn't just involve sitting at a desk from sunrise to sundown crunching the numbers, instead, it often incorporates a mix of healthy eating, regular exercise, disciplined sleep routines, and of course, downtime. Don't believe us? Richard Branson swears by it.
In a blog post penned by the successful entrepreneur himself, Branson wrote, "It's important to build some 'you time' into your daily routine, even if it's just 15 minutes of doing something that you love. I really enjoy kitesurfing when the wind allows, playing a game of tennis, jumping on my bike, or simply going for a walk."
This had us quickly thinking, what hobbies can we incorporate into the day, for 15 minutes (or longer)? Branson adds, "Even entrepreneurs need some downtime and taking some time out can actually boost creativity and helps you take a step back and look at things with a fresh viewpoint." Not only did the Virgin founder speak of the importance of spending time with yourself, he also spoke of spending time with loved ones. "There's always room for a bit more adventure in our lives and our loved ones always appreciate spending more time together." Point taken.
