Found: 5 Homewares Stores in Byron Bay You're Yet to Discover
I don’t know exactly when it happened; perhaps after purchasing my first set of linen sheets, but my heart now has a tendency to beat a little faster whenever I enter a beautiful homewares store. So it was quite a task when we recently moved from a two-bedroom unit in Bondi to a three-bedroom home in Lennox Head. My Pinterest board is hundreds of pins deep and my list of ‘essentials’ is ever evolving—though my husband would probably argue that it's ‘never-ending’.
Over the past couple of years, I have started to invest more in timeless pieces, so filling our new home began with our two core pieces—our Hampton Corner Sofa and Bronte Dining Table from Lounge Lovers—which set the tone for the rest of the house. The search has been both fun and frustrating, namely because I have found far too many things that I want but probably don’t need. After much pinning and careful curation, slowly but surely our house is starting to feel like a home.
Prepare to have a new-found disdain for your current sofa, bedside tables, throw cushions and storage baskets, you’ll be wanting to upgrade everything after a visit to one of these homewares hotspots.

While this is technically not a store per se, I found Purc Studio via Instagram and I’m so glad that I did. Marty is also a Bondi expat and creates custom furniture that you’ll be sure to love for a lifetime. It was probably a little insulting that I asked for stump stools over his incredible handcrafted handiwork, but I will be back for sure. Next on the list is a single bed once our daughter is ready to move from her cot. In the meantime, I’ll keep crushing on our new bedside stools.
Byron Bay Hanging Chairs
While I distinctly remember disliking my mother’s cane bookshelf, rattan has come a long way since the 80s and in case you haven’t noticed, is having a real moment. And Byron Bay Hanging Chairs needs to be your first port of call to get this trend. From bed heads to daybeds to the infamous hanging chairs, Byron Bay Hanging Chairs has that special something you never knew you needed but will wonder how you lived without it.
I’m cheating with this one because it’s actually a collective of little stores all of which make up the perfect excuse to visit Newrybar Merchants every week (that, and maybe the coffee and croissants from Harvest across the road). Filled with independent but complementing stores including Tigmi Trading (the rugs! Oh, the rugs!) Mini Mosh (a treasure trove of cute kid’s collectibles, toys and clothing), Beautiflora (not just a florist but a stockist of the best indoor plants), The Society Inc and Nikau (a botanical and clay emporium by like-minded plant and design lovers), Newrybar Merchants is a genius one-stop shop for homewares and accessories.
HENDRIX & HARLOW
Who knew baskets and linen cushions could bring so much joy?! It’s like HENDRIX & Harlow have taken my Pinterest boards and made them all come to life—think natural wood teamed with luxurious linens, rattan and neutral throws and ceramics. It’s the perfect mix of elevated coastal cool. Did I mention they do custom furniture too?
Whenever I get inspired to step outside of my monochrome box, Marr-Kett is my first stop. Bringing together an eclectic mix of worldly treasures from all over the globe, this one-of-a-kind store has the best selection of Moroccan rugs, trinkets, and homewares. They say that the fundamental driving force behind the store is to recreate that initial excitement in discovering treasure, and it certainly does that.
