Has overindulging over the weekend left your stomach feeling out of sorts? If you regularly experience bloating, you could be one of the 45 million Americans who struggle with gastrointestinal issues like irritable bowel syndrome. Some sensitive eaters have been adopting a low-FODMAP diet to combat these stomach ailments.

FODMAP stands for fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols—all trigger foods for stomach discomfort and bloat, but also found in every single food group. Well and Good reached out to Travis Stork, MD, host of The Doctors and author of The Doctor's Diet, to reveal the most surprising FODMAP foods that might be making you feel bloated

Garlic and onions. These cooking staples are a sneaky source of FODMAP. Though difficult to avoid, if you're cooking for yourself, you may want to avoid them if you want to avoid an upset stomach.

Apples. While an apple a day might keep the doctor away, they may also make you feel bloated because of the excess fructose. The same goes for peaches and pears.

Chamomile tea. As soothing as a cup of tea might sound, especially to treat a stomachache, chamomile is another unexpected trigger. Luckily, black, green, and peppermint tea are all safe.
