But if you can eat your way to a better complexion, can you also eat your way to a better sex life? Whitney Tingle and Danielle DuBoise, the founders of cult-favourite healthy food delivery service Sakara Life, sure think so. The food experts shared their eating tips with Well and Good and went way beyond aphrodisiacs (sorry, oysters). Read on to see the foods they say promote a healthier sex life.

Fibre-packed veggies: Vegetables like Brussels sprouts, peas, and broccoli will reduce bloating and are chock-full of antioxidants that also make your skin glow.

Stress-reducing foods: Reach for spinach, bananas, almonds, and avocados, which will keep you calm and promote a happier state of mind. “Foods loaded with magnesium have been found to be linked with lowering anxiety,” DuBoise says.

Greens: Followers of Chinese medicine believe that chomping down on lettuce, avocados, and fresh kiwi inspires your heart chakra, which is responsible for love. “The heart chakra is also all about balance, and in Chinese medicine, leafy greens are neither yin nor yang, and are said to maintain equilibrium,” Tingle says.

Healthy fats: Coconut, hemp seeds, and cold-pressed olive oil all contain fatty acids that aid in the production of sex hormones. 

Dark chocolate: A compound in this dessert actually tells your brain to release dopamine, a chemical that makes you feel good (which may explain those chocolate cravings!).
