Inside a Cosy, Light-Filled Family Home in Copenhagen

When you're planning out your dream home there are several things to contemplate first. The colour palette, the design theme, and decorating style are all chief considerations, but imagine mapping them out under the lens of being family-friendly. This dynamic can really add a new level of difficulty, but if you're anything like this Danish family, you'll revel in the challenge.

Creative couple Peter Østergaard and Åsa Olofsson turned their former fisherman's cottage into a cosy, light-filled home that is just as fashionable as it is practical. They worked with Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen of Norm Architects to design their fantasy: “a house where we could live close together but not on top of each other.” They told Dwell: "With a small house, you really consider everything you own. You don’t have 20 pots and pans, you have only four good ones."

Take the tour and see how the couple reimagined this space to accommodate their kid-friendly needs while still staying true to their own style.
