Dominique Ansel’s Brass Cronut Necklace Wins Valentine’s Day

Julia Millay Walsh

Who would want to wear a locket around their neck when they could wear a Cronut instead? Or Cronut flakes, specifically. Mega-hyped pastry chef and Cronut creator Dominique Ansel has teamed up with Virgin Mega to introduce a totally odd, yet absolutely awesome limited-edition Valentine’s Day gift. The duo have commissioned acclaimed jeweller Gabriel Urist to design a handcrafted pendant capsule containing brass Cronut flakes cast from Ansel’s worth-waiting-in-line-hours-for pastries. The necklace is paired with two “his-and-hers” cherry-blossom-ganache Cronuts with sour cherry jam and citrus sugar (as it should be).

The #CronutIsForever Valentine’s Day set, limited to only 100 units, goes for $100 including shipping, and is available exclusively on the Virgin Mega app (download for Apple or Android). And if your Valentine lives in New York City, his or her next-level gift may just be hand delivered. Otherwise, it’ll be overnighted, ensuring maximum Cronut freshness.
