Tour a Classic and Creative Family Home in Melbourne

Sacha Strebe

How do you modernize a home while retaining its Edwardian history? One young family of four returned their home to its former glory by refurbishing the two most used rooms in the house. They redid both bathrooms and added a whole new kitchen, but kept the original fireplaces, pressed metal walls and ornate plasterwork to maintain the home's history. Then the Melbourne art teacher Martine Cook, her husband Jason, and two children filled their interior with eclectic found treasures and second-hand finds. Scroll down to take the tour through photos by Annette O'Brien for The Design Files.
