This Is Hands Down the "Filthiest Thing in Your Home"
Despite efforts to keep a tidy home, let's admit that more than a few things tend to slip through the cracks (especially if work is particularly crazy or your social life keeps you out on the weekends). But Apartment Therapy would argue that you're forgetting to clean one extremely germ-ridden thing you use in our home every single day: your cell phone.
Each square inch of your smartphone reportedly contains roughly 25,000 germs, which surpasses kitchen counters, door handles, and even toilet seats. "You probably read it somewhere and promptly filed that new information into the 'If I ever think about this again, I'll never get through the day' file," the site writes. But "a dirty cell phone could be directly battling your best efforts to stay away from illness and keep acne off your face." What's more, it can easily spread germs you pick up from work, public transit, or doctor's offices around your home.
You can actually make a diluted alcohol solution yourself for next to nothing. All you need is water, 70% isopropyl alcohol, a small spray bottle, and a lint-free cloth to wipe it away, reports BuzzFeed, with one word of warning: "Never spray the solution directly on your phone. Instead, spray the cloth once or twice—but don't get it completely wet. You still want to use the solution sparingly."
