Career Code: Meet the Entrepreneur Taking the Fashion Industry by Storm
In honour of our co-founders Hillary Kerr and Katherine Power’s latest book, The Career Code: Must-Know Rules for a Strategic, Stylish, and Self-Made Career ($19), we’re running an interview series featuring 17 questions (to parallel the book’s 17 chapters) about the work lives of inspirational female leaders who are at the top of their fields. So far, we’ve tapped Lisa Messenger, Pip Edwards, Kelly Wearstler, and more. Next up? Candice Rose-O'Rourke.
As the beach days begin to roll in, it’s highly likely you’ve been swooning over a piece (or ten) from Zulu & Zephyr in an attempt to get your wardrobe not only summer-ready, but to also take it from classic to cool girl. You can thank Candice Rose-O’Rourke for that. Rose-O'Rourke is the co-founder and director of the boutique clothing and swimwear label, and since launching it with her sister, Karla Rose, back in 2012, it has become a favourite among It-girls around the world.
Born and bred by the beach, it’s no surprise that the Byron Bay-based pair have found their success from swimwear and are behind some of the most coveted collections in the country. With now over than 90 stockists globally, more than 240,000 Instagram followers, and a multi-million dollar turnover, it’s safe to say that this sister duo has been making waves.
We caught up with the Rose-O’Rouke, the once publishing guru, to find out what inspires her, how she stays ahead of the fashion game, and the qualities you need to succeed—read on.
