My Plus One: Bridget Malcolm and Nathaniel Hoho

Lauren Powell

Australian model Bridget Malcolm and her musician husband, Nathaniel Hoho, are the definition of It-couple. Not only are the pair one of the coolest couples strolling the streets of their hometown of New York City, but also, the Victoria Secret model and lead vocalist and guitarist of NYC-based Walking Shapes are as talented as they are genetically blessed.

The pair tied the knot earlier this year in a low-key ceremony in Hoho’s hometown of Mifflintown, Pennsylvania overlooking the region’s scenic Ridge-and-Valley Appalachians earlier this year. Malcolm recently revealed to MyDomaine Australia that they play multiple games of backgammon over cups of black coffee every single morning—so cute. And just when we thought we couldn’t love them anymore, they got personal with us—read on to find out what they love most about one another, how they’d describe each other in a song, and everything in-between.

MYDOMAINE: What do you think are you partner’s best traits?

NATHANIEL HOHO: “Her laugh and smile. She's the most compassionate, fun-loving, and easy-going person I have ever met!”

BRIDGET MALCOLM: “His complete generosity… He never fails to show me how much I mean to him and how much I can trust him.”

MD: What’s their guilty pleasure?

BM: “Chocolate chip cookies.”

NH: “Red Hot Chili Peppers.”

MD: What makes them laugh the most?

NH: “So much—I feel like Bridget is always laughing.”

MD: What is your favourite thing to do together?

BM: “Pretty much anything on the planet. I do love a good road trip though, we have driven a long way together.”

NH: “We both travel so much that just being together is our number one.”

MD: What’s the best date you’ve shared together?

BM: “Does our honeymoon count? A whole month just the two of us and no other distractions.”

NH: “Surf lessons together in Costa Rica—she was so happy!”

"I would describe Nathaniel as my best friend, cool, faithful, beautiful, loving, and fun.”

MD: How did you meet?

BM: “In a group of mutual friends in 2012.”

MD: Do you remember what one another was wearing when you first met?

BM: “I remember he was wearing a big coat and a hat.”

NH: “Our first date together she was wearing a white silk dress.”

MD: What’s their worst habit?

BM: “He tends to wear my shirts and jackets and manages to tear them in the most random of places.”

NH: “She has a great habit of wearing all of my clothes and then somehow always dropping food on them. Always.”

MD: If you had to pick a song to describe your partner, what would it be and why?

BM: “'Landslide' by the Fleetwood Mac—we listened to this song together before we started dating, and it was our first dance as a married couple.”

NH: “It would have to be 'Snow' by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. She plays a mean air guitar, and knows every word to both.”

MD: Do you remember the first thing you said to each other?

BM: “Probably a super awkward hello and a wave—we both aren’t super at ease around strangers.”

NH: “We took our time getting to know each other—I feel like the first time we really connected though she asked me what my superpower would be if I could choose one.”

“Bridget is the most compassionate, fun-loving, and easy-going person I have ever met.”

MD: What’s your favourite memory of one another?

BM: “Seeing Nathaniel come out of the water super stoked after surfing.”

NH: “Seeing her face when I proposed to her!”

MD: Where did you first kiss?

BM: “I think at his apartment in Green Point!”

NH: “Definitely at my apartment in Green Point.”

MD: How would you describe your partner to other people?

BM: “Gentle, calm, kind, giving, perfect!”

NH: “As my best friend, cool, faithful, beautiful, loving, and fun.”
