Tour a Photographer's Insanely Chic Home in Los Angeles
While we all lust for that Insta-worthy aesthetic, there’s an art to designing your home so that it lives beyond the double tap. Magazine-worthy spaces look great on screen, but how do they work in the real world? Someone who’s nailed that fashion-versus-function design conundrum is Los Angeles–based interior design photographer Monica Wang. Located on the outskirts of the hip Koreatown neighbourhood, Wang and her husband crafted an interior that is absolutely the best of both worlds, and they “absolutely love living there.”
“It’s bright and airy and reminds me every day why I moved to L.A.,” she told Grey Malin. The stylish snapper clearly has a passion for that laid-back Californian style with a heady dose of Scandinavian and boho vibes. “I try to mix in influences here and there to make it my own,” she said. “I look for furniture pieces and accessories that truly fit into the space and are functional. I still wanted our home to feel approachable and cosy at the end of the ” Not sure about you, but we’re off to buy everything to re-create that divine dining room.
“‘The Fox’ caught my eye because it was simply a beautiful, well-composed piece,” she said. “It is understated and not your typical Gray Malin print. I almost overlooked it at first, but once it did catch my eye, the more I looked at it, the more I loved it. It felt like me.”
“I chose ‘Manhattan’ because of the perspective,” she said. “It’s a view of Manhattan that you often forget about since it is an island. Plus, the colour just pops off of the white walls.
“Whenever I see a Gray Malin piece, it reminds me of vacay and what's not to love about that,” she adds. “It reminds me to not take life so seriously and to separate yourself once in a while to the possibilities of true imagination.”

“I am also a very curious person, so I always have some sort of hobby,” she says. “Right now, I am taking piano lessons to relearn how to play since I inherited my grandmother’s vintage one. Before that it was cooking, nutrition, soap making, and cheese making. Ha! I cannot sit still even if I tried. I am a nerd at heart.”
