Inside Ashley Hicks' Pattern-Packed, Surrealist Rental Flat

Julia Millay Walsh

Celebrated architect and interior designer Ashley Hicks, son of famed interior designer David Hicks, won't let a boring box deter him. The designer transformed his rented London flat, which was marked by "ugly windows, a low ceiling, and beig carpet," by painting its white walls in a "strong, random geometric design in warm earth colours," and added an array of shapely, statement-making furniture for a Surrealist vibe. Packed with pattern and pops colour, it's now a far cry from basic. If only we all had his talent.
