Amanda Peet's Perfectly Imperfect Breakfast Nook
When Amanda Peet and her husband, Game of Thrones showrunner, David Benioff, renovated their Hollywood Hills Spanish-style abode, they knew they wanted to make the kitchen nook the center of the house. After energizing the space with a fresh coat of white paint, Peet introduced warm woods, colourful textiles, an enticing library, and a few playful accents like multi-colour woven rug and her daughters' art. The result? The perfect spot for enjoying everything the kitchen has to offer, from early morning pancake breakfasts with daughters Frankie and Molly to late-night glasses of wine. Read on to learn how to get the look.
Could your gang hang out in this nook? Tell us why in the comments below.

Mixing prints in an all-white, otherwise neutral space is key to adding warmth and character. Be sure to vary the pattern type (Peet opted for stripes of different sizes and romantic floral prints). The patterns also act as camouflage for stains and slip-ups.

Although the banquet seat is likely the most coveted spot in the house, a trio of wishbone chairs with bentwood frames and rattan seats add midcentury flair to the nook. Tip: Keep an extra chair or two on hand (in this case a Tolix-style armchair) for when a few extra guests need to squeeze in around the table.

Abstract art can infuse a space with vibrant colour, but can be tough to find at affordable prices. The solution? Commission your little ones to create a pro bono original. Here, Peet made a gallery wall of her daughters' masterpieces. Not quite in the parenting stage? Grab some supplies and embrace the child-artist within (or shop the look below).
