Airbnb’s Latest Offering Is the Secret to Your Best Vacation Yet

Lauren Powell

Overnight, Airbnb has revolutionised the travel industry. The accommodation giant is no longer just a destination for rental properties, but is now a destination to book your entire trip. The company has launched a service aptly called “Trips” which allows travellers not only to book a local’s home in more than 34,000 cities around the world, but experiences and tours, too.

This move sees the company’s most significant development in its eight year history and has taken their taken vision for globetrotters to live like a local to a whole new level. Trips gives travellers the opportunity to experience unique activities that only locals know about—if you fancy violin making in Paris, surfing in a secret location in Malibu, or learning the art of ancient pottery in Tokyo, Airbnb has you covered.

Or, if you’re keen to learn more about your new city, book yourself a cultural expert or neighbourhood insider to recommend the hidden gems—find the perfect run from a marathoner, the best dive bar from a local mixologist, or an undiscovered restaurant from an up-and-coming chef.

“Until now, Airbnb has been about homes,” said Brian Chesky, Airbnb CEO. “Today, Airbnb is launching 'Trips', bringing together where you stay, what you do, and the people you meet all in one place. We want to make travel magical again by putting people back at the heart of every trip.” What’s next? Flight and services, of course. Travelling the world got even better.
