Looking for an excuse to book a flight? A report by Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies suggests you should stop waiting and plan a vacation now. The meta-analysis drew on a number of studies, which found that taking time out from your regular routine has serious long-term health benefits.
Researchers found that women who rarely vacation had a significantly higher chance of developing a heart attack or coronary death compared to those who take a break at least twice a year. “Travel is an important behaviour that promotes brain health and builds resilience across the lifespan … because it challenges the brain with new and different experiences and environments,” explains Dr. Paul Nussbaum, president and founder of the Brain Health Center.
