It’s one thing experiencing an incredible holiday, and it’s another being able to capture it and relive it forever. And let’s be honest, as avid travellers, we love nothing more than reminiscing about past escapes by scrolling through our old travel albums (over and over again). Renowned travel blogger Geneva Vanderzeil, founder of A Pair and a Spare shared with Huffington Post Australia her top tips for taking the most memorable holiday snaps, so we can capture our next escape like we never have before. Read on for Vanderzeil’s pro secrets for getting behind the lens on location.

Tip 1.

“Think about what you're seeing from a different angle. These days so many places have been shown and photographed, but it's how you put your own spin on it that makes all the difference.”

Tip 2.

“Putting yourself in the image also gives an amazing sense of proportion, and helps people imagine that they're there too.”

Tip 3.

“Choose one or two ways to edit your photographs and stick to them. This ensures continuity across your photos so that over time people will understand that as your photographic signature.”

Tip 4.

On moving image apps: "They're a really fun tool for giving more movement and expression to a place or person. A city like Hong Kong that has lots of movement and chaos is a great place to experiment with it.”
