It’s no secret that Australia is home to some of the finest restaurants in the world and the recent announcement of the top 100 eateries in the country confirmed exactly that.

The worthy winners of Australia's Top Restaurant awards for 2016 were voted by local chefs and restaurateurs themselves, so it’s safe to say the venues gracing the list are the cream of the crop.

Taking out the number one spot was Melbourne’s multi-award winning restaurant, Attica. “Ben Shewry has built Attica into a unique and personal experience that celebrates all that Australian dining excellence is about. With its passion for just-picked and wild plants, an intuitive use of native produce, and exceptionally warm, sincere service, it deserves every accolade and award it wins—especially this one," Co-Director of the Awards Terry Durack said in a statement.
