While it’s one of our favourite days of the week, we’re all too familiar with the Sunday night blues as the weekend comes to a devastating end. Even if you love your job, the daunting thought of the full week ahead can sometimes put a dampener on the wonderful weekend that was. To put an end to this dread, Business Insider Australia has reviewed Laura Vanderkam's best-selling book “What The Most Successful People Do On The Weekend” and revealed the common Sunday night rituals that all successful people do to prepare and look forward to the working week ahead. “You need to hit Monday ready to go,” says Vanderkam. “To do that, you need weekends that rejuvenate you, rather than exhaust or disappoint you. Cross-training makes you a better athlete, and likewise, exercise, volunteer work, spiritual activities, and hands-on parenting make you a better worker than if you just worked all the time.” Read on and enjoy your Sundays from AM to PM.

1. They spend quality time with loved ones

Thanks to our jam-packed weeks, time with family and friends can be rare. Spend Sunday evening spending quality time with loved ones and you’ll be ready to throw yourself into the week ahead.

2. They plan something fun

Spend Sunday night doing something you enjoy—whether it’s dinner with friends, a movie night, or seeing a show—not only will it make your weekend feel longer, but it will also distract from the impending Monday.

3. They plan for the week ahead

Some successful people check their calendars, send outstanding emails, and set goals for the week ahead so they feel on their game before Monday even rolls around.

4. They read

Most successful people incorporate reading into their Sunday night routines and catch-up on anything outstanding they had bookmarked or missed throughout the week.

5. They exercise

Exercising is an ideal way to finish your weekend on a high and to feel energised and motivated for the week ahead.

6. They eat something healthy

While winding down with a glass of red or two might be your perfect way to end your weekend, try opting for a healthy meal and your body and mind will thank you for it come Monday morning.
