The Oscar winner and mother of two works with a trainer who incorporates ballet-inspired movements into her rigorous strength-training routine. To maintain her peace of mind and work on her own self-improvement, Theron also practices talk therapy. In a recent Vogue article, Theron discussed her aversion to marriage and how it is unrelated to her parents’ difficult union: “I have had a good amount of healthy therapy about it, and it really isn’t about that.”
Body activist and Sports Illustrated cover girl Ashley Graham is changing the way commercial advertising and the media define beauty. Curvy and toned, Graham is an advocate for healthy living. She describes herself as a “very active person” and enjoys all different kinds of physical activity, like dance, cardio, yoga, and rollerblading. Graham also believes in positive self-encouragement. She told Modern Wellness Guide, “Confidence can be achieved if you work toward it regularly. I love practicing affirmations every morning. I look in the mirror and celebrate my body inside and out.”
Jennifer Garner’s epic smile and blissful aura are a reflection of the care and dedication she gives to healthy living. She’s a longtime Pilates devotee and has been known to frequent her local SoulCycle on the regular. But she’s also not afraid of a few indulgences. She told Vanity Fair that the past 12 months have been “a year of wine” and that when she needs to shut her brain off at the end of the day, she turns to Amy Poehler or Tina Fey for comedic relief.
Besides drinking lots of SmartWater, Jennifer Aniston maintains a healthy lifestyle by keeping everything in moderation. “I eat really well and I work out, but I also indulge when I want to. … I don’t starve myself in an extremist way. My advice: Stop eating sh*t every day.” Aniston also advises against routine. “Mixing it up is always fun because that way you know you’re excited, and it’s muscle confusion. It keeps your body awake.”
As a model, a mother, and the wife of a world famous DJ, Doutzen Kroes is incredibly dedicated to maintaining a healthy, plant-heavy diet. The Dutch beauty told Vogue that traveling is the most difficult aspect of keeping up her healthy routine, but she always makes sure to bring protein bars and fruit when she’s on the go. Kroes relies on a clean, healthy diet; daily workouts; and plenty of sleep to maintain high energy and a strong physique 365 days a year. If Kroes wasn’t a supermodel, she says she’d be a nutritionist like her mother and sister.
We love Gigi Hadid’s healthy living mantra: “Eat clean to stay fit, have a burger to stay sane.” The young supermodel has been an athlete her entire life, and beach volleyball was her sport of choice in high school. Nowadays Hadid hits Gotham Gym in New York for intense one-on-one wrestling sessions. “The key to working out,” she told Vogue, “is to have fun.”
Gwyneth Paltrow has long been an advocate for the recently gushed-about Clean Program. Emily Weiss and Sophia Amoruso have sung its praises, but Paltrow has been participating in the 21-day cleanse once a year for several years. The program, designed by Dr. Junger, involves health supplements in an effort to restore the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Of the Clean Program, Paltrow says, “I can report that it works wonders.”
Kerry Washington is as dedicated to her healthy living regimen as she is to her acting career, which is to say she’s extremely invested. She practices an hour of Pilates three to four times per week and maintains a clean diet of small meals throughout the day instead of three large meals.
Victoria Beckham sings the praises of the alkaline diet to keep her in fighting shape to lead a fashion empire and family of four children. I change my look. I change my mind. And when it comes to exercise,” Hudson told Self, “I really mix it up.” Hudson is also a huge proponent of journaling. “When you jot things down, you can really see what’s going on. What are you eating? What are your food patterns? You can get clued in to the things that are going on with you.”
