Those with grit will do anything and everything it takes to be successful. Scroll through to see if you have what it takes to be the best.
Do you keep fighting even when you feel defeated? Muhammad Ali was once asked how many sit-ups he does a day, to which he famously responded, "I don't count my sit-ups. I only start counting when it starts hurting, when I feel pain, cause that's when it really matters." The same is true for leaders. Those with grit know that fighting when it hurts most and persevering are what matter most. When something in the workplace gets difficult, you can either overcome it and grow from it or let it defeat you. What do you?
Do you trust your gut? Trusting your gut is different than being impulsive. It means once you've examined a decision from every possible angle and the facts don't clearly demonstrate a right answer, you are confident in your ability to choose. When push comes to shove, do you know what feels right?
Can you lead, even when no one else is following? Whether you're starting something new or taking a big risk, oftentimes true leaders have to believe in themselves when no one else does. Those with grit keep working until they convince others to believe in their way of thinking. Do you have the courage to turn against the crowd and forge your own path?
Can you focus on the mind-numbing details? It can be 3 a.m. and you've only just cracked the surface of your first quarter budget. When fatigue clouds your mind, do you still have the determination to dig in and do what needs to be done?
Can you take the high road? As tempting as it may be to write off those that are rude to you, those with grit treat rude and unkind people with the same kindness they extend to anyone else. No one's negativity can bring them down. Can you rise above any cruel comments in pursuit of your dream?
