Tour the Bright White Kitchen of Style Me Pretty's Abby Larson
Abby Larson, founder and editor of Style Me Pretty and Style Me Pretty Living, knows a thing or two about crafting a stylish setting. Yet, when it came to decorating her Boston-area home, practicality may have prevented Larson from realising her vision for the space, until the kitchen nook became the perfect place for her decorating dream to come to fruition. “I'm a big fan of all-white décor, but with three messy kids, that isn't always an option,” Larson tells us. “Unless we're talking kitchens where surfaces tend to be wipeable.”
Opting for an all-white colour scheme peppered with ladylike detailing, Larson designed a versatile space where her family could congregate... in style.
“We made a few easy updates to the house when we purchased it, like darkening the wood floors and brightening the kitchen with a new coat of paint, but for the most part, we simply let it become a home,” shares Larson.
After opting for a bright white paint, to maximise the airiness of the space, Larson chose to keep the decorative elements in the kitchen simple. “We wanted our kitchen nook to feel bright,” the editor shares. “So we went with a modern white table paired with antique prints and a classic crystal chandelier. Old meets new in the best possible way.”
Because families tend to congregate at kitchen tables, Larson knew the space would need to be cosy and inviting. “This is a tiny space and yet the one area that we spend the most time in,” she tells us. “We wanted it to be comfortable while still feeling thoughtfully designed.”
“We hoped that the little room would hold big moments, so comfy chairs, an easy-to-clean table, and whimsical prints seemed like the right fit,” the editor shares.
Despite its petite size, this kitchen nook has become a hub of the home. “We eat here, we do homework here, and we shoot tablescapes and recipes for Style Me Pretty and Style Me Pretty Living,” she says. “This tiny little area is definitely well-loved!”
