Travelling to Bali With Kids? These Are the Places You Need to Know About

Rebecca Jobson

In her first column for MyDomaine Australia as part of our INF / Network, Rebecca Jobson shares with us her insight into holidaying in Bali with small children. As a mother of one, the model, blogger, and childrenswear designer has a knack for all things luxurious yet kid-friendly, so who better to guide you through one of the most in-demand tropical travel destinations? So prepare to be inspired to make your next family vacation the best yet with Jobson's guide to the best places to stay, dine, and shop when in Bali.

It's that time of year again—we’re officially starting to feel those cool weather snaps and are planning our next move, usually to a warmer climate. One of the easiest places to pack your bags and head towards is Bali. Convenient and always progressing with new shops, bars and accommodations popping up daily, what’s not to love? Here’s my guide to some of the island's newest hotspots for parents travelling with children.

Stay

Fella Villas

These villas are tucked away enough to feel like you are out of the hustle and bustle, but close enough to get to all the hottest Canggu restaurants, cafes and bars. They are also built with an opening living plan, which stays on one level, so you won't have to worry about chasing the little ones up and down stairs.

The Slow

If the hotel vibe is more of what you’re after, The Slow is the place for you. Located on Batu Bolong, which is one of the main streets in Canggu, The Slow is a one-stop shop that includes accommodation, fine dining, art and fashion all underneath one roof.

Komune Resort

Perfect for the whole family, especially one with a surfer in the mix. Keramas is out of the way from the fast-paced Kuta and approximately one hour from Seminyak. There are two restaurants, two pools, a fitness centre, a retail store, and from what I hear, one of the best waves in Bali.

Eat & Drink

The Lawn Beach Lounge

This newly opened establishment is right on the water's edge at Canggu Beach, just off Jalan Batu Bolong. Complete with a pool, stunning daybeds, and some extremely comfy seated areas on the lawn, this is a super fun spot to go for a drink or a bite to eat.

Lacalita Bar y Cocina

It's almost impossible to go to a good Mexican restaurant and leave without having a great time, and Lacalita Bar proves this theory correct. The menu is full of delicious, authentic Mexican food with a Western twist.

Da Maria

The menu is to die forhonestly one of those dinners that you would pick for your last meal—with a variety of pizza, pasta, and Italian goodness on offer. The venue is large but sectioned, so it's cosy and easier to keep track of your kids.

Mrs Sippy Seminyak

Located in Seminyak right near the Alila Hotel, Mrs Sippy has all the feels of a luxurious Miami pool club. A seven-metre high diving board is the star attraction with a smaller three-metre platform that is just the right height for those kids with no fear factor. Stop at the retail store on the way out, which stocks some of my favourite brands, such as Sir The Label, Fella, and Innika Choo.

Shop

Kim Soo Home

The second you step into this Seminyak store it’s like you’ve gone to homeware heaven. The only problem you’ll have is that you might have to purchase additional baggage to get it all home. Now featuring a café, you can get coffee while you shop then lunch afterwards.

Little Island Store Seminyak

This space stocks everything from clothing, shoes, jewellery and accessories—my favourite items are the Balinese straw backpacks. They also have a small selection of children's clothing, so you can take a present home for your mini-me, too.

So what are you waiting for? Pack your bags, grab your tribe, and book a ticket to the island to soak up some rays now.
