In some circles, Montauk is surpassing the Hamptons as the summer playground of choice for New York City’s elite. Take for example, its two newest residents, Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber. The Hollywood power couple just purchased a $5.4 million USD cottage in Montauk, just a few miles east of the Hamptons home they’re reportedly trying to sell.
According to the listing, the 6,000-square-foot residence is top-heavy, with most of its living and entertaining spaces located on the second floor, to take advantage of the “expansive ocean views.” The home also includes four bedrooms, one of which faces the ocean.
The open-concept home, with its vaulted ceiling, seems above all else, spacious. And why not? The couple already has two young sons, who will no doubt delight in their new summer digs's in-ground swimming pool and outdoor shower. Watts has said in the past that they might even try for a third child, if they could ensure that it would be a baby girl.
Either way, with a new home just steps away from a serene patch of beach and the towering bluffs of Shadmoor State Park nearby, it looks like the Schreiber-Watts family has many idyllic Long Island summers ahead.
