You Won't Want to Travel Without This New Safety App
In the last few years, the threat of violence and terrorism on the world has grown in its authenticity. While we attempt to instill a sense of security into our day-to-day lives, when travelling and when relaxing on the home front, there are certain technologies that can aid in this effort. Enter My Panda. The newly released app, created for travellers and locals alike, aims to "aid in the escape of an attack" and is already ballooning in popularity in cities across Europe.
With its real-time, crowd-sourcing data and its centralised security platform, My Panda alerts users to the threat of violence or terrorism in their immediate area, helping them seek shelter or alert the authorities should the need arise. "For example, instead of using a mapping program to find the nearest police station, checking Twitter or [Google] for the latest news, and checking in 'safe' on Facebook, the user can perform all of these tasks, and many more, [in the app]," explained My Panda to MyDomaine. So far, the app only covers the world's 30 largest cities, including Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and more.
Although the immediate success of an "app to aid with terrorist attacks" may paint a rather bleak picture of our world today, find solace in the fact that, unlike the cult success of entertainment apps like Pokémon Go, My Panda aims to actually help save lives and direct citizens to safety.
