With her beautiful fashion editorial running on our sister site Who What Wear Australia, girl of the moment, 22-year-old Australian actress Maia Mitchell, has shared some inspiring career advice with us. Considering this young starlet took Hollywood by storm four years ago and has been become a household name since, we think her book is one we’d like to take a leaf out of.

The Fosters star reveals her number one career tip for aspiring actors is to only pursue this path if you’re really passionate. “This may sound blunt, but if there’s anything else you can imagine doing or that you’ll be happy doing, do that first, because this is really hard, and you have to really, really, really love it for it to be worth it,” she says. “The lifestyle is a huge sacrifice, and if you love your work, love getting up early and you’re excited by the idea of a day on set, then it’s totally worth sacrificing everything else.”

And judging by the local beauty’s aspiring actresses list, we anticipate we’ll be seeing much, much more of her in the years to come. “I look up to Meryl Streep, I mean she is just the obvious choice, she’s unreal—I would love to work with her,” notes Mitchell. “I love Clare Danes too, I’ve just re-watched all of Homeland, and I have so much respect for her. Cate Blanchett too of course—there’s a million, but they are the main ones.”
