Shop Now: Lauren Conrad’s Chic New Soy Candles
In addition to her thriving fashion label, Lauren Conrad is also the co-founder of a growing global shop, The Little Market, which sells beautiful lifestyle accents, home décor, and fashion accessories made by artisans in developing nations. Today, Conrad and her partner and friend Hannah Skvarla give us an exclusive first look at their new soy candle collection.
Candles are a simple way to add a touch of elegance to the home. We love the way they fill a room with warmth and aroma. This past fall, we started carrying candles in eight scents at The Little Market, and just this week, we added new candle fragrances that we are really excited about!
The chocolate and rose candles are perfect for a romantic occasion, like an anniversary or Valentine’s Day. The bouquet candle is a great engagement gift for the bride-to-be, and the Champagne candle is the perfect gift for any celebration! Need a last-minute birthday gift? The birthday cake candle is just the ticket.
All of our candles are made of soy blend wax with a cotton wick. The approximate burn time is 30 hours. But the best part? Each candle is signed by the artisan who made it.
This past December, we had the great pleasure of visiting Prosperity Candle, where we met and worked alongside the artisans. It was an incredible experience, and reinforced what makes these candles so special. The women who make them have relocated after years of great loss and living in refugee camps. The income from these candles helps create meaningful opportunities for them to rebuild their lives.
In a recent conversation, Ted Barber, the co-founder and president or Prosperity Candle, captured it best: “For a recently resettled refugee who is fortunate to have landed in the U.S., life is confusing and full of challenges, even with all the wonderful services provided. The women often do not speak English, and have few employment opportunities. Those that are available are typically minimum wage with fees. We have sought to address those challenges, while still operating as a business that must be competitive and sustainable. The women understand we are not a charity, but that we work side-by-side with them to create an enterprise that creates value for them as well as customers.”
When you light one of these candles in your home, you will be reminded that your purchase is making a difference in the home of the woman artisan who made it. We hope you love the candles as much as we do! To see our complete collection and learn more about the artisans we work with, please visit our website.
