The 11-Minute Yoga Routine That Can Make You More Successful
You don’t need to be a human pretzel to enjoy the many well-known benefits of yoga, which include better memory, weight loss, and a leaner body, to name just a few. One form of this ancient practice, Kundalini yoga, has been linked to attracting opportunity, opening up your full potential, and even reversing signs of ageing, as Los Angeles–based yoga instructor and wellness expert Fern Olivia explains in MindBodyGreen.
After suffering from Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism, Olivia herself knows the power of self-healing through yoga (oh, and ditching certain foods from her diet). The founder of Thyroid Yoga, Olivia says adding the daily practice of Gyan Chakra Kriya changed her life for the better. An exercise that combines yogic postures, meditation, mantra, and breath work, this routine’s “primary effect is that it brightens your halo and builds the aura to bring you prosperity,” she writes.
“If all of that sounds too esoteric, then just know that this exercise will make you glow—you’re commanding cosmic energy to you,” Olivia reveals. Even if you’re undecided on the “esoteric” aspects of this Eastern discipline, Yoga Journal explains that the goal of Kundalini is “to build physical vitality and increase consciousness,” benefits that even Western doctors agree can improve our daily lives.
With all of that in mind, here's how to start welcoming opportunity—and the routine only takes 11 minutes to complete. First, begin by chanting the mantra “Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo” three times. After assuming a cross-legged seated posture (don’t forget to keep that spine straight!) and touching the tips of your index finger and thumb on each hand, the next step is to “alternatively move the hands in large swooping circles over the head."
