Love Kinfolk? You May Be A Part of the Kinspiracy
Have you ever Instagrammed a photo of a latte, swirled at the top ever so artfully? Or perhaps you've arranged a birds-eye view photograph to show off your new heritage-style work boots and Field Notes pad before heading out for the day. Maybe, like many, you have a soft spot for soft neutrals, washed linens, rustic wood, and aged leather. You're not alone. What you are, as it turns out, is a member of the Kinspiracy, as a new, very funny, very shrewd Tumblr account, called The Kinspiracy, has revealed.
According to The Kinspiracy, this overwhelming aesthetic movement can be traced to Kinfolk, an independent lifestyle print magazine and website that has spawned fashionable pop-up dinners (think: campfire cooking) and crafty workshops (think: flower potlucks), a gorgeous cookbook, as well as legions of fans devoted to all things modern Americana. The tone of The Kinspiracy is equal parts snark and fascination, and after scrolling through the website's archive of eerily similar Instagram photo sets culled from participating parties, we can understand why: A revolution is afoot. We're not mad at it. But thanks to The Kinspiracy, we're certainly comically aware.
