It certainly seems like Jennifer Lopez gets younger with each passing year, so anytime she spills secrets about her healthy lifestyle, we take notes. MyBody&Soul recently outlined some of the healthy eating rules the actress and singer has admitted to throughout the years. Though Lopez does make room for some moderate indulges (she's confessed she has a soft spot for chocolate chips), she otherwise keeps her eating clean, cutting out certain things many of us would struggle to live without. Head below to learn three of the healthy eating rules Lopez lives by.

Eat whole foods and drink water. When she dished on her exact diet in Us Weekly last year, she listed healthy staples like salmon, broccoli, peppers, zucchini, and quinoa. When she dines out, she told Hello! that she sticks to healthy low-calorie meals that fit her lifestyle and makes sure she drinks lots of water throughout each meal.

Increase your protein. "Protein is my go-to whenever I start to have cravings," explained Lopez to Hello! "It fills me up and keeps me full longer. It's a great muscle fuel." When it comes to getting her fix, she enjoys pork and chicken—"especially Puerto Rican style!" she admitted.

Reduce your intake of alcohol and coffee. In the same Us Weekly interview, Lopez admitted she hasn't had caffeine in years. "I don't drink or smoke or have caffeine," said Lopez. "That really wrecks your skin as you get older." Since going cold turkey with coffee isn't a realistic option for many, try switching up your intake with decaf from time to time, or imitate Lopez's energy-boosting method of energising with a morning protein shake.
